How to Configure SAML 2.0 for Qualtrics (Deprecated)

Supported Features

The Okta/Qualtrics SAML integration currently supports the following features:

Configuration Steps

  1. Fill out the Qualtrics SSO Survey to contact the Qualtrics support team and request SAML 2.0.
  2. On the first page of the survey, follow the links to the Qualtrics documentation, as desired. Select the >> button to move to the next screen.
  3. Select Yes to indicate you have read the documents, and then, select the >> button to move to the next screen.
  4. Enter your name, address, and organization information. Select SAML/Shibboleh for the SSO method to implement. Select the >> button to move to the next screen.
  5. For the next page of the survey, check the following responses.
    1. Question: Are you a member of the InCommon Federation? Answer: No
    2. Question: Which metadata type will you be using: Answer: SAML 2.0
    3. Question: If you are using Shibboleth 1.3 or if your metadata does not contain a Single Logout Service, please provide the URL where you would like us to redirect your users upon logout.  Answer: https://<yourSubDomain>.okta.com/ where <yourSubDomain> is the name of your Qualtrics subdomain.

    4. Question: What is the EntityID of the Identity Provider? Answer: Enter the information shown below.

      Sign into the Okta Administrator Dashboard to generate this value.
    5. Select the >> button to move to the next screen.
  6. On the next page of the survey, check the following response.
    1. Question: Will this be an SP initiated or IdP initiated workflow? Answer: IdP Initiated.
    2. Select the >> button to move to the next screen.
  7. On the next page of the survey that begins with the text Copy and paste the link below..., select the >> button to move to the next screen.
  8. Copy and save the following IdP Metadata show below with the filename metadata.xml. 
    Sign into the Okta Admin dashboard to generate this value.

  9. On the next page of the survey, select the following responses.

    1. For the section Please attach your identity provider metadata below, select Browse. Navigate to the file metadata.txt that you just saved in step 8, above, and select it.
    2. For Attribute containing the user's unique username or ID, enter uid.
    3. For Attribute containing the user's firstname, enter firstName.
    4. For Attribute containing the user's lastname, enter lastName.
    5. For Attribute containing the user's email address, enter email.
    6. For Please select the mapping that would like to set up, check None.
    7. Select the >> button to move to the next screen.
  10. On the final page of the survey that begins If you have any other notes or considerations, select the Submit button.
  11. Qualtrics will process your request. After SAML is enabled, they will send you a confirmation email. After you receive the confirmation, you can begin assigning people to the application.
  12. After you receive the confirmation email from Qualtrics, you can assign people to the application
  13. Done!
