Configure SAML for Sinch

Single Sign-On (SSO) lets your team sign in to Sinch using Okta as the identity provider. If you’re already signed in to Okta, you need to re-enter your credentials when accessing Sinch.

Configuration steps

Follow these steps to configure SAML for Sinch.

Retrieve Sinch values

To complete the setup in Okta, you must first obtain the connection name from your Sinch account.

  1. Locate your connection name

    The connection name is a unique alphanumeric identifier for your specific Sinch environment.

    • Sign in to your Sinch account.
    • Click your profile and select Manage my Sinch ID.
    • Under the SSO Configuration section, select Domain.
    • Add a new domain and complete the verification process.
    • Click Manage to view the connection name. You need this for the Okta integration.

Configure the Sinch app in Okta

Follow these steps to activate the integration within your Okta org.

  1. Add the Sinch app from the OIN
    • Sign in to the Okta Admin Console.
    • Go to Applications > Applications.
    • Click Browse App Catalog.
    • Search for Sinch and click Add Integration.
  2. Configure general settings

    On the General Settings tab, enter the values that you obtained in the previous step:

    • Application label: Leave the default or rename as required.
    • Connection Name: Enter the connection name from Sinch.
    • Click Done.
  3. Select the sign-on method
    • Go to the Sign On tab.
    • Under Sign-on methods, select SAML 2.0.
  4. Add metadata to Sinch
    • Sign in to Sinch ID from the Sinch dashboard by clicking your profile and then selecting Manage my Sinch ID.
    • Under SSO Configuration, select Domains.
    • Click Manage on your verified domain.
    • Toggle on Enterprise SSO and click Configure Enterprise SSO.
  5. Add metadata through manual IdP configuration

    Follow these steps to manually set up the IdP details in Sinch.

    • In the Okta Admin Console, go to Applications > Applications.
    • Search for and select the Sinch app.
    • Go to the Sign On tab and click View SAML setup instructions.
    • Copy the following values:
      • Identity Provider Single Sign-On URL
      • X.509 Certificate
    • Under SAML Configuration Sinch ID section, select Enter Details Manually.
    • Paste the values copied from the Single Sign-On URL and X.509 Certificate fields.
    • Optional: To enable IdP-initiated SSO, go to the IdP-initiated SSO section, toggle on Accept Request, and then select the default app.
  6. Assign users to the app

    The integration doesn’t function until users are assigned in Okta.

    • Click the Assignments tab.
    • Click Assign > Assign to People (or Groups).
    • Select the users who require access. Click Save, and then click Go Back .

Verify SP-initiated SSO

SP-initiated SSO allows users to sign in to Okta directly from Sinch.

Access the SSO sign-in page

  1. Go to your Sinch sign-in page.
  2. Enter your email address. Make sure to enter the email address that's assigned to the Sinch app.
  3. Click Submit. Your Okta sign-in page opens.
  4. Enter your Okta credentials. If the credentials are correct, you're signed in to your Sinch dashboard.
